Engaging our Residents in daily activities like cooking… MATTERS

Recently North Shore Living residents had the pleasure of enjoying Bread Pudding made by Mavonne Dahl and Nick Anderson in the Woods kitchen.

Mavonne shared that she used to cook at Cascade Restaurant and that the famous Bread Pudding recipe that is used until this day was originally hers. Nick gracefully accepted the challenge as “sous chef”/assistant and followed every instruction to the tee. North Shore Health's Dietary team had a great time working with them as they prepared a delicious snack served with caramel sauce and whipped cream.

Engaging our residents in daily activities like cooking is important because it supports physical health, cognitive function, emotional well-being, and social connection in ways that go beyond just being active while contributing to a more vibrant, independent, and fulfilled life in long-term care.
