North Shore Health (NSH) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Orthopaedic Associates of Duluth to bring monthly orthopaedic specialty clinics to the Grand Marais community beginning in July.
These clinics will expand access to specialized orthopaedic care close to home, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for initial consultations, various treatments, and follow‑up care.
Dr. Phillip Thomas from Orthopaedic Associates of Duluth will serve as the primary physician for orthopaedic clinics at NSH. Dr. Thomas is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of orthopaedic conditions. He specializes in advanced surgical and non-surgical care for the hip, knee, and shoulder, with a particular focus on sports-related injuries and complex joint problems. His practice also includes a strong emphasis on cartilage restoration and joint preservation techniques.
As an Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Thomas evaluates pain and injuries related to physical activity, overuse, aging, and sports. He works with patients to determine the most appropriate treatment options, which may include bracing or splinting, pain management or injections, physical therapy, or surgery when necessary. Orthopaedic Associates provides comprehensive support from initial injury through pre‑ and post‑surgical care, coordinating closely with rehabilitation teams to help patients return to the activities they enjoy.
Monthly clinics will be held on the first Wednesday of each month beginning in July. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Thomas, patients may speak with their primary care provider about a referral or contact NSH directly at 218‑387‑3509. If you have any questions whether this clinic is right for you, please call- our team is happy to assist!
