Being a rural, independent hospital often means balancing big responsibilities with limited resources. Small rural hospitals face many challenges- from financial pressures to meeting Medicare and Medicaid requirements to negotiating complex insurance contracts.
North Shore Health is proud to be a founding member of the Headwaters Network, a collaboration of 22 rural, independent healthcare providers across Minnesota working together to reduce barriers and strengthen care.
As a clinically integrated rural health network, the Headwaters High Value Network brings member hospitals/clinics together to identify and invest in shared infrastructure that supports long-term sustainability, operational excellence, and high-quality care across our region. These shared efforts help enhance collaboration, improve efficiency, and prepare rural hospitals/clinics for evolving healthcare models and reimbursement structures.
Thank you to the NSH Board and Leadership for carefully evaluating all options and focusing on what will best serve our patients, staff, and communities for years to come. Partnerships like Headwaters allow independent organizations like ours to benefit from collective strength and shared resources while still maintaining local governance and decision-making.
