North Shore Health Directors Awarded Healthcare Administration Scholarships

North Shore Health is proud to recognize Patrick O’Neil, Director of Rehab, and Karla Pankow, Director of Emergency Medical Services, who were recently awarded scholarships from the Minnesota Hospital Foundation and the Minnesota chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). This scholarship program honors emerging healthcare leaders committed to continuous learning, professional growth, and advancing their skills in healthcare administration.

As Patrick and Karla near completion of their Master of Healthcare Administration programs, the scholarship support has strengthened their ability to bring new perspectives to their leadership roles at North Shore Health- particularly in how strategy, finance, workforce, quality, operations, and community needs come together in decision making.

Karla reflected, "One of the most rewarding parts of the past two years has been being able to apply what I’m learning directly to the work we’re doing at North Shore Health."

Patrick shared, "I am optimistic about the future of healthcare and the skills I have gained to address our community’s ongoing health care needs."

Having two scholarship recipients from North Shore Health speaks to the level of detail, rigor, and passion our staff bring to their work each day. With support from our leadership, Patrick and Karla are helping introduce new ideas, frameworks, and energy into the organization as we continue improving access to care for the residents of Cook County.

Please join us in congratulating Patrick and Karla on this well deserved recognition. We are grateful for their dedication and excited to see how their continued growth will shape the future of care at North Shore Health.
