North Shore Health was proud to host the MN State Senator Grant Hauschild Roundtable.
A wide variety of community leaders from Cook and Lake Counties discussed key issues within Senator Hauschild’s “Northland Strong Initiative” including:

- Outdoor Heritage
- Innovative Economies

Around the room a host of priority topics were addressed by Senator Hauschild and attendees:
- Coast Guard closure
- Gitchi-Gami Trail
- Housing (affordability, timing, planning, funding)

- Tourism
- Unique challenges of rural communities
- On-site staff training, apprenticeship and virtual education
- Outfitters’ challenges
- Family Leave program
- State agencies inability to get money out the door in a timely fashion

- Mining regulation, pollution, recycling metals, and protecting natural resources
- New legislation re: requirements of screening patients for financial assistance
