A Breakfast Info Bites webinar session
Access to medical care affects the quality of life for every Minnesotan. In rural areas of northeastern Minnesota, non-emergency medical transportation is a big challenge. Residents in some rural areas face travel times of an hour or more just for basic care; specialty care (including dialysis, chemotherapy, and other recurring care) can include even longer travel times. If you don’t have a car, even a short drive can be insurmountable.
Join Extension as Beverly Sidlo-Tolliver and Gavin Bukovich (of the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission) and David Beard (of the University of Minnesota Duluth) share progress on a community-university collaboration to create knowledge and to call for change. The project has two dimensions.
- Working with the Center for Transportation, the School of Public Policy and the School of Public Health to collect data on the challenges in non-emergency medical transportation in the northeast region.
- Working with professional videographer Dan Fitzpatrick of the University of Minnesota Duluth Motion, Media and Design Lab to interview stakeholders and thought leaders to shape future innovations.
You will learn from the presenters as they share their project challenges and approaches. You'll also discover how you can help or contribute to the project.
