Celebrating Two More CNAs!

North Shore Health Efforts Pay Off

Celebrating Two More CNAs!

The Education Department is proud to announce that North Shore Health has two more people that have worked hard to receive their CNA certifications and can now be added to the CNA Registry of Minnesota.

Congratulations to Juliet Olson and to another student who prefers anonymity on passing their CNA knowledge and skills State Tests.

Juliet enrolled in the OnTrack Nursing Assistant Education Program administered by the North Shore Health Education Department early in 2023. She was able to start earning money working in the Care Center as a Student CNA after completing her 35 hours of online study, passing her two proctored written exams and beginning her 40 hours of learning the practical nursing skills in lab and clinical study.

Once CNA students start learning those core CNA skills, they can begin putting that new knowledge to use in the Care Center working alongside experienced professional staff. This means that Juliet was earning money while practicing and honing her newly learned skills in preparation of her certification knowledge and skills exam for her CNA Certification while serving the residents of North Shore Living. Juliet put in a lot of hours, effort and dedication. Thank you for all of your hard work, Juliet.

We are so happy to have both of these new CNAs on the North Shore Health team caring for our residents.

The CNA OnTrack program is one example of how North Shore Health is investing in and offering education opportunities to people interested in the health care field. Staff members Amy James, RN, Danielle Hansen, RN, Riza Sturm, CNA and many other RNs and CNAs in the care center are lending their knowledge and expertise to support the CNA students in their education to enter into the health care profession. Thank you for welcoming and helping new staff and thank you for your contributions. It matters.

The EMT program is operating on a similar model, working to educate interested community members in the role of EMT. With the help of the HR, IT, Ambulance and Education Departments, 5 of our EMT students will transition into a paid EMT student role where they will be working in the Ambulance Department alongside professional staff learning the ropes of pre-hospital care. The EMT students spent their last skills day on November 10th learning about airway management and CPR thanks to Karla Pankow, Eric Bjugstad, Shalom Richardson and Ben Belland. We should start seeing those new students in the ER and on Ambulance rides after November 17th.

A special thanks to Jon Moe, who spent many hours developing the framework of these programs. Jon, we appreciate your contribution to the continuing education of individuals interested in serving their community in the health care field.
